We are pleased to feature Captain Roosevelt Johnson alongside the new Mobile Command Center. We took a tour of the Mobile Command Center and were impressed with the state-of-the-art electronic equipment, which is vital to our valley and will make for more efficient communication.

It will be a great advantage in assisting the public during emergencies and conducting criminal investigations. Santa Clarita was listed as one of the safest communities in California and we will continue to support the men and women who work hard to keep our neighborhoods safe. Last month we brought back a section dedicated to Old Town Newhall, which we continued in this issue. If you haven’t visited Old Town Newhall and experienced all there is to do and see there, you must. We have highlighted many of the restaurants and retailers who proudly call Old Town Newhall their home, beginning on page 19
As you flip through the pages of this issue, you will find that these last few months have been very eventful for Santa Claritans! See what the community has been up to as we revisit some of these events in our On the Town with The Magazine of Santa Clarita features.
Take the plunge with the Special Olympics on June 6, or hit the greens for a great cause on June 22! The Special Olympics Polar Plunge and Golf Tournament help fund Special Olympics programs in our community, whose goal is to enhance and enrich the lives of thousands of athletes with intellectual disabilities. Turn to pages 8 and 10 to learn more about these exciting events!
Circus Vargas, America’s favorite traveling Big Top is back in town and ready to amuse and enchant children of all ages from June 18 until June 22. For more information, turn to page 7.
There’s no shortage of fun in the SCV, so if you’re looking for something to do on a Friday night, enjoy the lovely weather we have and take a stroll down Town Center Drive to the Hyatt Valencia and enjoy the sounds from top Jazz and Blues recording artists at the Valencia Jazz and Blues Concert Series, which begins on June 19. If you thought you missed the SCV Youth Projects 7th Annual Sweet Charity Cake Auction & Competition…well you didn’t. Get your baking skills and sweet tooth ready, as the event will now take place on Saturday, June 27 at the beautiful Robinson Ranch Golf Club. See opposite page for more information.
Don’t forget to mark your calendars a few months in advance as Dancing With Our Stars is back, and set for Friday, August 28. See who will be partnering up and learn more about the spectacular event and how you can get tickets on page 11.
