The Persevering Women of Empowering HeArts Meet Abi Caruthers and Kristin Drucker
Abi Caruthers directs a women’s support group, Women, Inspired, and is president of a non-profit organization, 100 Women for One. Her work today, raising the self esteem and confidence of others, reducing anxiety as well as helping them remove blocks to success, is informed by the traumatic experiences of her own childhood. Abandoned by her mother, who left her at a boarding school and never returned, Caruthers was raised in England in foster care. She came to the United States at 19, seeking to begin her life anew. A homeless, young, single mother, she successfully faced and overcame her personal challenges, and has dedicated her professional life as a Certified Hypnotherapist to supporting and empowering others in need.
Kristin Drucker became a single mother of a one-year-old after the break-up of a seven-year marriage. Working through adversity to provide the best life possible for her daughter, Drucker educated herself in the parenting skills that she subsequently shared with other single parents, through her church and Single Mothers Outreach. When faced with financial ruin, Drucker enrolled in a Financial Peace University (FPU) class that changed her life. The financial management skills she gained ignited her passion to share those tools and strategies with other single mothers. In 2008, Drucker began teaching FPU classes at SMO. Since then, she has paid off over $67,000 in non-mortgage debt, and has helped more than 170 women pay off $133,000 in debt, and save $139,000. Drucker continues to inspire single parents by leading classes and providing one-on-one financial counseling at SMO.
Please join us as Single Mothers Outreach celebrates six persevering Santa Clarita women and local artists who will create original works of art based on their stories. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit www.singlemothersoutreach.org/hearts.
