Hart District’s 2nd Annual “Speech Week” Coming in Early November

The Santa Clarita Valley Business Group, in partnership with the William S. Hart Union High School District, will be sponsoring the 2nd Annual “Speech Week” Competition in early November.  This competition will involve approximately 100 eighth grade students from each of the Hart District’s junior high schools.  The topic for each student’s three-minute speech will be, “Why is my education indispensable to my future?”
The preliminary rounds begin at 6 p.m. on November 2 with La Mesa hosting Sierra Vista.  On November 4,  Arroyo Seco hosts Rio Norte, and on November 5, Placerita hosts Rancho Pico.  The top two students from each school’s preliminary round will advance to the championship round hosted by Rancho Pico on Thursday, November 12 at 6 p.m.  The speeches will be judged by over 30 business owners from the Santa Clarita Valley Business Group. The overall top three students will receive cash awards in the amounts of $200, $100, and $50.
