SCV Dancing With Our Stars Raises $319,000 at 2015 Event – $1,300,000 raised over the past six years
Year after year, we are continuously in awe of the community’s support of Dancing With Our Stars and the non-profits that benefit from it – but this year, we were truly blown away. It has been a year of records, with 2015 bringing in the most volunteer dancers and total funds raised.
While the community and non-profits brought in more than $296,000 through fundraising efforts, proceeds from ticket sales at the event raised another $23,000, coming to a grand total of $319,000 donated to local and regional non-profits. Thank you to D’Wilfri Dance Art and Entertainment, as well as our sponsors: HomeSmart Team Bjorkman, Gerard Cosmetics – Whitening Lightning, and the City of Santa Clarita. You’ve helped us make this event bigger than we ever envisioned!
Now that our volunteer dancers have had time to rest their feet, The Magazine of Santa Clarita and élite Magazine asked the winning dancers and their respective non-profits to join us at our office for a check presentation. Please join us in congratulating the following individuals and organizations for their hard work and beautiful dancing!
First Place Celebrity Dancer Liz Caddow, Founder and Head of School at Trinity Classical Academy, wowed the crowd with her stage presence when she danced for their Imago Dei School for special education students. Trinity received $8,000 on behalf of The The Magazine of Santa Clarita and élite Magazine as First Place prize.
Ken Wiseman, CEO of AMS Fulfillment, moved the crowd with an interpretive performance warning against the dangers of impaired driving, winning him the Second Place Celebrity Dancer prize. The Magazine of Santa Clarita and élite Magazine donated $7,000 to the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Foundation on behalf of Ken’s win.
One of the most entertaining dances of the evening was brought to the stage by Third Place Celebrity Dancer Miriam Robles. She represented Single Mothers Outreach well, by inviting her family to be a part of the dance, as well. TThe Magazine of Santa Clarita and élite Magazine donated $6,000 to the non-profit on behalf of Miriam’s win.
In addition to our Celebrity Dancers, two dancers won $1,000 donations each for their respective non-profits. Janine Jones won Best Female Celebrity Dancer for the American Diabetes Association, and Homayoun Daryani won Best Male Celebrity Dancer for the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center.
We would like to congratulate all of our dancers, as well as the community. Thank you for Dancing with us!
