26 Years of The Magazine of Santa Clarita. And Plenty More to Come

 Over the past 26 years, Prime Publications, Inc. has produced more than 40,000 pages, 350 magazines and dozens of community events.  Year after year, we’ve been there – cheering on our community’s non-profits at countless fundraisers and showing support when so many of today’s treasured local businesses first opened their doors.  We’ve heard the stories of this community’s most influential, inspiring and admirable residents, and shared in both the Santa Clarita Valley’s most tragic and celebratory moments.  With each passing issue, we’ve been touched by both the simplest and most monumental stories.  And after 26 years, we couldn’t dream of a better way to invest our time and hearts than in the support of this community.
When we first launched our 30-page holiday publication Mistletoe & Holly in 1990, we never imagined it would grow into a 200-page monthly publication that today greets the homes of 80,000 Santa Clarita Valley families.  But as the City of Santa Clarita, just 3 years old at the time, grew into a shining model for small-town love with big-city features, we too grew to accommodate such a thriving city.
More than 10 years ago, Prime Publications went digital, launching interactive websites and, later, digital magazines that we’ve expanded and redesigned several times to stay on the cutting-edge of digital media.  In 2004, we launched élite Magazine, the community’s first high-gloss, perfect-bound lifestyle magazine to offer high-end content and brand-driven advertising.  And in 2010, we made some changes to The Magazine of Santa Clarita, upgrading to a perfect-bound spine and adding our signature color-coded tabs.
After surpassing our 25-year milestone, Prime Publications decided to once again take a fresh eye to our publications and turn our focus to the future.  In 2015, we’ve expanded our staff, added new client services and grown in pages, as well as increased our digital reach through revamped websites and a stronger social media presence.
Part of our excitement comes from the fresh, creative energy our new team members bring to the table, as they work together with longtime staff members who offer their institutional knowledge of both media and community.  élite Magazine’s new Associate Publisher Amanda Benson has infused élite with new ideas, elevating it to a more beautiful, quality read with a focus on interactive media.  Our new Editor Kirsten Quinn brings her background in SCV community journalism to the pages of our magazines, along with our new Associate Editor Lindsey Arellano, who adds a lively voice and fresh perspective to our monthly content.
We’ve also brought on more Sales Executives to better accommodate the needs of our local businesses.  We’re very excited to have Jennifer Sgambati, Angelica Santana and Pegah Hunt aboard this year, who bring more Santa Clarita Valley relationships and expertise to our sales force.  Jennifer’s bubbly personality warms any room, and her talent for identifying ways to enhance and expand a client’s marketing strategy has made her an undeniable value to her clients.  Angelica, has extensive knowledge of social media and local businesses, as well as a knack for making clients smile.  An active volunteer, Pegah understands this community’s heart and spirit as she works with local non-profits and develops custom marketing strategies for local businesses.

As we look ahead, we would also like to remember how far we’ve come and thank the longtime employees who’ve helped us get here: Sales Executive Stephanie Kern-Hart (22 years), Ati Hafizi (16 years), Stephanie Jimenez (9 years), and our son Alexander Hafizi (9 years).  We’d also like to thank a couple of longtime partners of Prime Publications: Local photographer, Michael Asmar, owner of Joie de Vivre Photographie, thank you for always making us look great; and thank you to Robert Gardner, owner of Santa Clarita Web & IT for his innovative design work on our website.  We couldn’t have done it without all of you!
With this spectacular team, Prime Publications is offering more services to our valued clients than ever before.  Our editorial staff is now available to write editorial for clients, helping businesses fine-tune their message with a professional edge.  Sales executives are now gathering information from clients for social media posts, an added value that promotes clients’ current deals to our entire readership.  Other opportunities for added value come in the form of monthly editorial that incorporates and highlights our loyal advertisers, such as the Fashion pages in élite and the new Male Forum section of The Magazine of Santa Clarita.
This year has been a year of milestones, including Dancing With Our Stars surpassing the million-dollar mark in total fundraising.  At a point of positive change and growth, Prime Publications Inc., thanks you for being a part of our journey, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for this publication and community.  Have a wonderful holiday and a joyous new year!
