Blessed Are Those Who Give

 “In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” – Acts 20:35
When was the last time you gave?  Isn’t it interesting how in our society when we mention giving, we automatically think of material gifts but the gift of giving can come in many different forms.  Of course you can give physical gifts but you can also give of your time, advice and even love.  These attributes that are all within us and completely free are often times invaluable, priceless and everlasting to the receiver.  They can sometimes speak life into or even change the course of a person’s life.  Who wouldn’t want to give a gift like that!
That is the heart of ZOE’s Kids Helping Kids program.  As children collect quarters in plastic tubes that are then donated to the children at ZOE Children’s Homes, we want to instill in them that the time it took to collect the quarters and the love behind doing something for others is so much more important than what is collected.  No matter their age or how little they have collected, their effort and heart of giving is much greater, especially in God’s eyes.
Over the past several years, we’ve received positive feedback not only from the children participating in the program but from their parents as well.  The children get really excited desiring to help the children in Thailand and the parents love the program because they see firsthand, their children actively thinking of others.  We have parents telling us that their child collected their quarters by really working hard whether it was by doing chores, selling lemonade or telling other adults about ZOE and orphans.  How amazing is that!  So the next time you want to give a gift, consider giving something that cannot be measured by money.  You will be blessed.
