WiSH Education Foundation Honors Distinguished Alumni
The WiSH Education Foundation is proud to announce their Distinguished Alumni Awards to be held on May 21 in the Modular Theater at California Institute of the Arts, beginning at 8 p.m. Immediately following the show, attendees will proceed to the Superintendent’s Ball, which will be held in the Main Gallery with food, drinks and entertainment. The event’s format is modeled after Hollywood’s Academy Awards, and will be hosted by 104.3 My-FM ‘Valentine in the Morning’ host and SCV resident Sean Valentine. Tickets are $75 per person and available now at WiSHscv.org.
Honorees at this first annual event include: Dee Dee Myers, the first female Press Secretary to serve a U.S. President (Bill Clinton), who will be presented the Superintendent Dalby Award; C. Thomas Howell, actor, producer and director; Shelby Jacobs, NASA Pioneer and Unsung Hero; John Bretthauer, COO and Executive VP, California Credit Union; Bruce Fortine, founding board member of College of the Canyons and current Board of Trustees President; and Gloria Mercado-Fortine, longtime Governing Board Member, William. S. Hart Union High School District and CEO of Global Education Solutions.
Former district teacher Dianna Lund will be awarded with the Distinguished Teacher Emeritus award, and Clyde Smyth will be honored with the WiSH In Memoriam award, presented to his son, former California Assemblyman Cameron Smyth.
Several Hollywood stars – including locally based comedian Mark Eddie, West Ranch parent Charlie Robinson (“Mom,” “Night Court”) and Richard Schiff (“The West Wing”) – will be on hand to serve as presenters and performers. More honorees are expected but are subject to change, so please check www.WiSHscv.org for updates.
Current sponsors include the Hart District Teachers Association, California Credit Union, Signal Multimedia Group, SOS Entertainment, The Zaring Group, The Watters Group and The Magazine of Santa Clarita. Sponsors are being added now; please contact us to be involved.
WiSH supports programs and initiatives in the Hart District that are not funded by tax dollars alone. Please contact Executive Director Amy Daniels at WiSH@hartdistrict.org if you would like to be a part of a foundation that affects every resident in our valley, whether or not you have students in the district.
