The Santa Clarita Ballet Presents Peter Pan
On June 11, be swept away to Neverland as the Santa Clarita Ballet sprinkles the College of the Canyons Performing Arts Center with pixie dust in their updated presentation of Peter Pan.
For over 21 years, the Santa Clarita Ballet Company has brought ballet to Santa Clarita’s stage, building a rich cultural arts base for our community. The June shows have become as much a community tradition as the Nutcracker performances in December. This year, choreographer Pam Sosa has transformed the delightful childhood story of Peter Pan into an exquisite piece of classical ballet, highlighting the skill of Academy and Company members.
Peter Pan will delight audiences of all ages with inspiring choreography and swashbuckling adventure. All of Peter Pan’s beloved familiar characters will sweep across the stage in this fresh interpretation of eternal childhood. Fly over the London skyline with the irrepressible Peter Pan and his feisty sidekick Tinkerbell. Watch as Tiger Lily shows real “girl power” when she stands up to roughshod pirates. Hold your breath in anticipation while Peter Pan, Wendy, and the Lost Boys outwit tricky Captain Hook. And return home again to a safe bed and the loving arms of Nana and her slobbery kisses.
As part of this production, Santa Clarita Ballet’s upper-level company dancers will perform an original short work following Peter Pan. This new work is choreographed by artistic director Carol Guidry and showcases the most accomplished Company dancers, many of whom have participated in prestigious ballet intensive programs and dance competitions nationwide. Included in this ensemble will be Santa Clarita Ballet Company alumni who are now part of professional companies across the country. This unique performance provides a wonderful opportunity for our audience to experience professional-level ballet in our community.
There will be two shows on Saturday. The matinee is at 2 p.m. and the evening show is at 7:30 p.m. Tickets go on sale May 2. Advanced ticket purchase is highly recommended as shows do sell out quickly. Tickets for this event are not sold through the Performing Arts Center.
For tickets, please call the Santa Clarita Ballet Company directly at 661-251-0366.
