Touch-A-Truck Is Back In Santa Clarita on Saturday, June 18
As sponsors of Touch-A-Truck, The Magazine of Santa Clarita Featured on our cover: (L-R) Jagger Hunt and Henry Hunt.
Kids love to read stories about them and point as they drive by, but at the Santa Clarita Valley’s annual Touch-A-Truck event, kids can get up close and personal with local emergency response vehicles and the heroes who operate them. Hosted by the SCV Senior Center, this family friendly fundraiser will be held on Saturday, June 18 at Central Park on Bouquet Canyon Road from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“Kids love vehicles,” said City Councilwoman Marsha McLean, who is serving as the event honorary chair, “and now they will be able to touch their favorite things on wheels.”
She noted the event will offer a close-up look at a cavalcade of construction rigs, fire engines, sheriff’s cars, and “nearly anything you can think of!”
And you won’t want to miss it! Participants will have the opportunity to get up close to emergency vehicles, antique fire engines, construction rigs, classic and antique vehicles and more. Children also will enjoy removable “tattoos,” costumed characters and professional magicians – who will teach youngsters a few tricks of their own. The fire department will be on hand with fire safety tips, and Photo Booth Hysteria will be providing souvenir fun photos.
Food trucks will offer meals and delicious treats for purchase, and soft drinks and bottled water will be available for sale. More than 20 vendors will offer their wares in the boutique vendor section.
Admission to Touch-A-Truck is $5, and fathers who bring their children to the event will be admitted free in honor of the Fathers’ Day weekend. Proceeds will go to the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center and help to support such services as Home Delivered Meals, the Adult Day Program and Care Management to local seniors. Tickets will be available at the door.
More information is available from Jennifer DeHaven at the SCV Senior Center; she can be reached at 661-259-9444 ext. 144.
