Wilk Honors Le Chêne French Cuisine as Small Business of the Month
Assemblyman Scott Wilk, R-Santa Clarita, recently honored Le Chêne French Cuisine as the 38th Assembly District Small Business of the Month for May.
“Le Chêne is an iconic institution whose roots extend deeply into our community,” Wilk said. “They routinely give back through local non-profits like the Celebrity Waiter Dinner and Sierra Pelona Wine Festival, which donates its proceeds to the SCV Senior Center. Le Chêne clearly fits the bill to be honored as Small Business of the Month.”
Le Chêne French Cuisine has been serving fine food and wine for more than 30 years and is located on Sierra Highway, near Agua Dulce. Le Chêne, meaning the oak, is fitting considering the beautiful, long-standing oak trees around the restaurant, as well as the rich history of the area. The recognizable stone, castle-esque building that houses Le Chêne has seen many celebrities over the years and was even a large part of the set in Steven Spielberg’s 1971 movie Duel.
Small businessman Juan Alonso has owned and operated Le Chêne French Cuisine since 1980.
The Small Business of the Month program is designed to highlight and honor small businesses in the community that hire locally, give back to local non-profits, and promote growth and investment in the community.
The 38th Assembly District encompasses Simi Valley, the northwestern section of the San Fernando Valley and most of the Santa Clarita Valley.
