Soroptimist International of Santa Clarita Valley Rocking the 50s for Breast Cancer

The Santa Clarita Chapter of Soroptimists International invites the Santa Clarita Valley community to join in on the fun and festivities at the 13th annual Bras for a Cause Rock Around the Clock on Sunday, September 25, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m, at the Valencia Country Club on Tourney Road.
“Get your glad rags on and join the fun… when the clock strikes one.” This year’s ‘50s themed event will transport participants back to the early days of rock ’n roll, poodle skirts, DAs, and sock hops. Event goers will have a chance to bid on embellished theme bras and item baskets. For the first time the bra models will include cancer survivors.
“Last year we had a sell-out crowd and are hoping for the same this year,” said event chairs Kathy Rutherford and Denise Dacorsi-Placencio. “Today, one woman in eight is diagnosed with breast cancer; one man in 31 is diagnosed. This is a disease that has touched everyone in some way.”
Proceeds from this fund-raiser support two community organizations: Circle of Hope of Santa Clarita and Sheila R.Veloz Imaging Center, specifically, providing financial and emotional support for cancer patients and their families.
SISCV is part of Soroptimists International, a worldwide organization dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls.  Since 1974, SISCV has contributed nearly one million dollars to local agencies as well as to international programs.
