Hart District Hosts Green STEM Summit

More than 200 students from the William S. Hart Union High School District attended the “Find Your Green Path” at the 2016 Green STEM Summit presented by the Santa Clarita Environmental Education Consortium (SCEEC) at College of the Canyons on Saturday, November 19, 2016.
The keynote speakers were Dr. Jerry Buckley, Assistant Superintendent and Vice President of Instruction at COC, and Michael Haro, an environmental engineer at Lockheed Martin. Panelists also spoke in sessions about careers in environmental sciences and the internships available to students.
Part of the program also included a “speed mentoring” session, where students could sit down at a table and discuss careers and the future of environmental sciences with professionals from companies and organizations, such as: Valencia Water Company, Boise Paper, City of Santa Clarita, CBS, Disney Corporate, and the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Fourteen colleges and universities that offer environmental sciences programs attended.
