Tell Me Something Good – April 2017
Ah… spring! I love the season, the allergies not so much, but the budding growth of the land, the growing bellies of the mommies to be and the prospect of a vacation all so close gets Southern Californians ready for summer. Continuing in the monthly tradition of sharing the good around town, I am proud to share this great news in April.
Our first TMSG comes from a couple that is near and dear to me. Valencia High School Alumni Anthony Bedgood and his lovely wife Amber are expecting their first child together in September 2017. We want to send our best wishes to you and your family as you prepare to welcome your new bundle of joy.
KHTS was recently honored by the Santa Clarita City Council for being named the Top Community Radio Station in the state! They all wore purple shirts and jeans in support of National Rare Disease Day, and a local child battling Sanfilippo Syndrome named Carter.
Congrats to Survival of the Fittest member Andrew Rangel for dropping 24.5lbs of body fat! When Andrew started with James O’Rourke on November 9, 2016 he weighed 230 pounds. His body fat percentage was 30 percent and he had 69 pounds of body fat. As of March 6, Andrew weighs 195 pounds and his body fat percentage is 22.7 percent. He is also down to 44.5 percent body fat. His goal was to weigh 200 pounds or less and it’s safe to say he accomplished that! Way to go Andrew, you are an inspiration to all.
If you had not had the pleasure to see the breath-taking artwork of Aazam Irilian, I am so very pleased to share it with you. And we would like to also congratulate Aazam on her recent award for “Creation” – which won “Best of Show” at the 6th Annual Juried Exhibition at JF Art Gallery in West Palm Beach, Florida. I can’t take my eyes off of it…
Sometimes news just doesn’t get any better than wishing the happiest of birthdays to the two sweet ladies that live right here in Santa Clarita. Ms. Vivian Frye recently celebrated her 94th birthday on March 7, and Ms. Mary Alvidrez will celebrate hers next month on May 29th. Some may recognize Ms. Mary from her tap dancing class at the SCV Senior Center, which she taught for 15 years. Thank you to Carol the Caregiver for sharing these two gems and sharing a bit of their story with us.
