Assistance League® Santa Clarita-Growing and Changing Together
Change is good. You go first.
Like most groups, Assistance League Santa Clarita has been facing this dilemma for 28 years since its founding in 1989. How do you get people to agree to make changes? The answer was to bring 80 of the organization’s member volunteers together for a mini-conference on the topic! With community speakers, a delightful Lollipop Moments TED Talks video, whimsical decorations, and a delicious lunch, they set forth a path for creative thinking and problem solving.
On March 7, 2017 City Council Member Marsha McLean and 2016 Santa Clarita Valley Woman of The Year, Lois Bauccio were invited to the Valencia Embassy Suites Hotel to speak to the theme of the conference, Growing and Changing Together, with information about the changes occurring in our community and the needs they were seeing. Three breakout topics about personal empowerment and sharing of ideas, and a whole group discussion period ended the day. From these shared moments, the revitalized membership will take the ideas and explore potential new programs to help the Santa Clarita community meet its changing needs. As the membership analyzes new possibilities, they will recall the encouraging words of Marsha McLean who reminded them “The changes Assistance League makes is what makes Santa Clarita so special; and what you give the kids in this valley is so important.”
Assistance League Santa Clarita is a 100 percent volunteer organization that develops and implements programs to make a difference in the lives of families in our community.
Their resale store is located at 24364 Main Street in downtown Newhall. For more information visit www.assistanceleaguesantaclarita.org.
