Tell Me Something Good – The Summer Edition – July 2017

by | Jun 27, 2017 | Community

Summer, summer, summertime… Does anyone else immediately hear Will Smith in their head? As a child of the 90’s, I can’t start a summer without hearing that song in my head. We are so fortunate in Santa Clarita to have a plethora of summer activities at our fingertips. Some come to mind quickly while others might take a bit more thought. In this edition of Tell Me Something Good, I wanted to highlight people, events and activities that are of service. While we all love a good getaway, there is plenty of time this summer to relax… and give back locally!
Almendra Park, Circle J Ranch and Santa Clarita Park received rubberized surfacing replacement! This process makes the parks look new and vibrant. It revitalizes the park to ensures that kids can play on the surface safely. Plus, I don’t know one mom that loves sand when they get home from the park, so thank you to the City of Santa Clarita for the upgrades. This mama really appreciates your thoughtful, hard work for our kids.
A huge thank you goes out to everyone who participated in the 44thAnnual Frontier Toyota/Henry Mayo “Drive Safe” Golf Classic. Henry Mayo Newhall Foundation President Marlee Lauffer shared, “We’re so thrilled to announce that our 2017 golf classic raised a historic $374,000 for Emergency Services—more than any other year. Thank you to all our sponsors, volunteers, donors, staff and community members who helped make this benchmark possible!”
Lori Wolfe Crawford answered a request I shared on Facebook I would like to recognize Stephanie Schlottman, the owner of Kaia Fit SCV. Stephanie and her two other coaches, Melissa Joy and Danielle, have been wonderful coaches, mentors and supporters to so many women participating at Kaia, an amazing woman›s only workout here in the SCV. These coaches encourage and inspire us to make healthier life choices every day and the results are clear! So many women in this valley are benefitting from this incredible program!

Congratulations to Santa Clarita resident Stephanie Meyer, who just graduated from Glendale Community College as a registered nurse! Jobs of service are so important and we are thankful that you chose to give of yourself and share your passion to help others.

Celebrating 50 years of marriage last month, Gary and Myrna Condie toasted in Salt Lake City, Utah at Temple Square. Congratulations to the inspiring and charity-minded couple who have done so much for the City of Santa Clarita. The Condie’s were COC Foundation’s Silver Spur Award recipients in 2010 for Community Service and have been an integral part of our community.
