Operation Holiday Cheer
Christmas Care Packages from Santa Clarita – Remembering Local Troops Overseas. Prayer Angels for the Military keeps the community busy during the months of October and November, preparing “holiday packages from home” for our local deployed troops. Getting a special package from their hometown, this time of year, can mean so very much, especially being away from their families and their friends. Help is always needed from Santa Clarita businesses and community members of all ages. Donating items to fill the care packages and shipping funds are needed, along with cards and letters of support. Volunteers can sign up for sorting and packing days. Consider filling up a Christmas stocking with goodies for the holidays and include your own card. A great idea for group or team participation.
Most needed items: Thick cotton crew socks (black, brown or white), medicated foot powder, three or four blade razors, Jerky and soft toilet paper!
Individually wrapped snacks: granola bars, protein bars, trail mix, nuts, cookies, fruit snacks, Slim Jims, beef logs, tuna kits, Pringles, Top Ramen (not cup-a-soups), drink packets/single serve (Propel/Crystal Light), instant oatmeal & hot cocoa packets. Pop-top cans of Ravioli, chili, hearty soups & fruit, peanut butter & jelly/jam in plastic jars, Ritz type crackers, specialty ground coffees like Starbucks, sugar & sweetener packets, candy (chocolate ok). Body wash, shampoo/conditioner, deodorant, lotion, individual toothbrushes, unscented baby wipes, wash cloths, travel sizes of Q-tips, mouthwash, hand sanitizers, toothpaste & tissues, hand warmer packs, winter scarves & beanies, AA & AAA batteries, writing tablets, pens, Sudoku & crosswords, comic books, paperback books, newer CDs & DVDs & International phone cards (ATT only) to call home for the holidays. Try to include some smaller holiday decorations (non-delicate). New Christmas stockings are also being requested.
Tax-deductible shipping funds can be mailed to Prayer Angels for the Military, 21609 Oak Orchard Rd, Newhall, CA 91321 or donate online at www.prayerangelsforthemilitary.com. A donation bin for items is also located at the Prayer Angel address (24/7). Large quantity pick-ups can be arranged.
Local businesses and community members of all ages are encouraged to support our local troops, through the local 501c3 non-profit Prayer Angels for the Military, organizing community troop efforts for 14 years.
