Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes: Earn a Free Ticket to Six Flags Magic Mountain! Teams now forming.
Be part of the fundraising walk culture and join thousands of area residents in the 2017 Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes movement at Six Flags Magic Mountain on November 4, or in Griffith Park on October 21st, or both. Every dollar raised plays an important role in supporting the American Diabetes Association’s mission: To prevent and cure diabetes and improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.
Did you know? Every 48 hours, 7,670 Americans are diagnosed with diabetes. That’s one person every 23 seconds.
Team up with family, friends and co-workers to make a difference in the fight to Stop Diabetes. This year every walker can earn a free ticket to Six Flags Magic Mountain. Donate or fundraise $100 to receive a free ticket to spend the day at the popular theme park after the walk on November 4. That’s as easy as asking 10 friends to donate $10 each! You’ll also receive a free Step Out Walk event t-shirt.
At the November 4 event, walkers will have the rare opportunity to travel through Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbor prior to opening to the public, enjoy the Step Out Festival, entertainment, vendors and activities after the walk, and then have fun inside Magic Mountain for the remainder of the day with your free ticket. Check-In and festival begins at 7 a.m., warm up begins on stage at 8 a.m. and the walk kicks off at 8:30 a.m.
Join a team or become a team captain yourself by inviting family and friends to walk with you, and inspire others to become Step Out Walk participants. Whether you are a physical walker or virtual supporter, your team will raise money for this inspirational event, not only because nearly 30 million people in the United States have diabetes, but because everyone more than likely knows someone who is living with the everyday challenges of this condition.
Registration is easy when you visit www.diabetes.org/StepOutGreaterLosAngeles. There is no registration fee to sign up, but donations and fundraising are encouraged. Parking is free for walkers and volunteers arriving before 8 a.m. Strollers and leashed canine friends welcome.
Once you register, you will be given your very own Step Out Center web page with access to lots of tools to help fundraise. You’ll be able to customize the page with your reason for walking, send emails to others asking them to join you or donate, and even download Facebook and smartphone apps for online fundraising. Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes provides a simple yet powerful way for employees, friends and family to come together for a fun healthy activity.
