Jerusalem’s Domes in New Art Show Local artist shares original art from her homeland
The Old Town Newhall Library will showcase paintings and mosaics by local Artist, Naomi Young in a solo art show entitled “Domes.” The exhibit, featuring cityscapes of Jerusalem, begins January 12, 2018 and will be on display until May 11, 2018. The public is invited to the artist’s reception on Wednesday, January 17 from 6:30-8:00 pm where they can enjoy Israeli music as well as Israeli food, wine and refreshments.
Naomi was born and raised in Jerusalem, Israel and left it 40 years ago, but her love for the city has never diminished. Her home town’s majestic beauty is the source of her inspiration. She pours her yearnings for her beloved city through her paintings, mosaics and books of poetry. She shares, “I may have left the city of Jerusalem, but it has never left me.” Through the use of vivid, brilliant colors, she expresses her love for the ancient city of Jerusalem and its eternal beauty.
Jerusalem means “The City of Peace”. It is in the hearts and souls of people from all around the world. There is no other city in the world quite like it. It is built on mountains with glorious towers, arches and domes and it is surrounded by ancient walls. The artist uses the captivating beauty of the city to share her joy, wonder and hopes for peace.
Naomi Young is a multifaceted international artist and a member of the Santa Clarita Artists Association. Her award-winning artwork has been seen in exhibitions and galleries and on her website at www.naomiyoung.com.
The “Domes’ exhibit is inside the Newhall library’s Community Room, where members of the community gather to meet for classes, workshops, as well as solo and group exhibits. Naomi’s art, art books and greeting cards will be available for sale during the reception.
