Home Helpers Commits to Hiring Vets, Service Dependents

by | Dec 27, 2017 | With Your Family in Mind

Home Helpers in-home care for seniors has launched an aggressive recruitment campaign aimed at adding more veterans and military dependents to its workforce by Veterans Day 2018.
Service members and their families have an obvious commitment to duty and service. Armed forces families have proved to be top performers among our Caregivers and management team, and we want to do everything we can to attract more veterans, service members and their families to serve local families.
The families of active service members often have difficulty finding long-term employment in the communities where they are stationed. In fact, Blue Star Families, a nonprofit that advocates for armed forces families, noted that military spouses have an unemployment rate four times the national average. Their pursuit of suitable employment can be complicated by frequent relocations as well as the extra demands that fall on the home front spouse during long deployments.
This is not only an expression of gratitude for their service, past or present, it’s a recognition of the skills and discipline they’ve demonstrated. It’s a business decision for us to attract the best talent to Home Helpers.
Because Home Helpers Caregivers receive exceptional training, the company believes it can create an opportunity for employment stability for families who experience a change of station. That training includes specialized instruction in Alzheimer’s and dementia care, mobility for the disabled, and organizing households for independent living. The Home Helpers network has locally owned offices in more than 900 communities across the United States.
Among the qualities that Home Helpers finds valuable in veterans and service families are their commitment to a mission of service, understanding of sacrifice, compassion and community spirit. In addition, their personal motivation and accountability are traits that any employer would find valuable. Home Helpers cares for the most vulnerable members of its client’s families, those characteristics and values are in high demand. They understand commitment and that’s essential in the responsibility that Caregivers take on.
Home Helpers has established an expedited recruitment and interview site for military families and veterans at www.HomeHelpersHomeCare.com/military.
