The Importance of Questions
When calling on any important matter, please remember to prepare yourself for the call. The more questions you ask, the better informed you are and the better you will be served. Here are some questions a garage door company will ask when you call:
1. What is the problem that you are having?
Please be aware of exactly what is happening. Does the door hesitate when going up? Does it go down then right back up? Is the motor humming and the chain not moving? Is it generally just noisy?
We need to know as much information as possible about the problem so we can give you the possible diagnosis and cost over the telephone. Be wary about companies that don’t ask these questions and offer to just come over. They are counting on getting their foot in the door to overcharge you when they arrive.
2) What type of door do you have?
If you know that it’s an eight-foot high or oversized door, please say so. Also say if you have two garage doors. This changes prices and also changes what parts we need on the truck before we come. Also, please know where the springs are. All garage doors have springs. If yours are on top, above the garage door, then you have a sectional. If you have a sectional, it’s important to know if it is wood or steel. If the springs are on the sides, you have a one piece. We ask this question so we can accurately tell you what the repair will cost over the telephone.
Knowing this basic information will ensure that you get better quotes for repair and that you won’t get taken advantage of. There are a limited number of possibilities regarding repairs and we can almost always tell you before we come so there are very few surprises. Our goal is 100 percent customer satisfaction which is why we take the time to give you as much information as possible before we come. Help us, help you.
