Come Explore Santa Clarita’s Wild Wild West at the 2018 Cowboy Festival
Dust off your boots, grab your lasso and put on your cowboy hat because the 25th Annual Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival, presented by Heritage Sierra Medical Group, is just around the corner! The Cowboy Festival returns to historic Old Town Newhall from April 19-22, and features five stages of performances, quality western merchandise, delicious grub and world-famous Cowboy Cobbler. The weekend begins on Thursday, April 19 with the “Cowboy Kickoff” SENSES Block Party on Main Street in Newhall. This ever-popular event will get you in the cowboy spirit with tasty food options, country and western music, line dancing and you can even test your rodeo skills on a mechanical bull.
The Cowboy Festival’s silver anniversary festivities will continue at venues throughout Old Town Newhall with ticketed performances and concerts at The MAIN, Canyon Theatre Guild and William S. Hart Park. Kick back and relax while listening to western swing music, country hits and original songs performed by Cowboy Festival favorites, rising stars and newcomers. These intimate performances have limited seating and are expected to sell out quickly.
The main Cowboy Festival will set up camp at William S. Hart Park on Saturday and Sunday, April 21-22, and general admission this year is free for all attendees. This year’s festival features more than 35 show-stopping acts in total, as well as trick ropers, gunslingers and living history exhibits. While you’re there be sure to take a free tour of the William S. Hart Museum, the former retirement home of William S. Hart, the world-renowned silent film actor and director who created a number of hit western movies in the early part of the 20th century. You may even see the herd of American Bison gifted by Walt Disney that roam the park!
Visit the official festival website at www.CowboyFestival.org to see a full list of performers and the schedule of events. Make sure you don’t miss out on the 25th anniversary of the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival! It’s sure to be a gun-slinging, bull-riding, cobbler-eating, rootin’-tootin’ good time. Heck, you might even be able to take your favorite Santa Clarita mascot home with you – if you can find him – because a special 25th anniversary Sammy Clarita will be galloping into town!
