Spring Fling, Egg Hunts & Summer Camp! Join us for Fun at the Farm!
Spring has arrived at the Gilchrist Farm! With Spring comes chicks, baby goats, the beginnings of the summer garden and our native butterfly garden! So much is happening this season, we can’t wait to share it all with you. Come and see for yourself! We are open to the public every Saturday year around from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Pony Rides, Wagon Rides, Crafts and Petting Zoo. Each weekend, we put out the babies for visits with their adoring public. Come on by, hold a chick, cuddle a baby goat, pet a pig, hold a bunny, and learn to milk a goat. Our goat milking demonstrations resume mid-April and take place weekly on Saturday mornings at 9 a.m., free of charge!
Our Egg Hunt and Spring Fling takes place on Saturday, March 31 from 9AM-5PM. We’ll have egg hunts for all ages at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Our Spring Animal Care Class students will be releasing butterflies into our butterfly garden at noon! Join us for this wonderful event. We’ll have a “HUG A BUNNY” area, chick zone, baby goats, pony rides, wagon rides, special spring crafts, egg hunts, live music, great food and some surprises! No charge for admission. The egg hunt is included with the purchase of a value pack ($25 for $30 worth of activities) or for just $3. There is no admission or parking charge, and each activity (pony rides, wagon rides, crafts, petting zoo) is just $5.
Ready for a real farm experience? Join us for Summer Camp! Reserve your spot for Gilchrist Farm Summer Camp before May 1 and save $50! This year, we offer five weeks of fun-filled camp plus mini-camp for two to four year-olds! Camp includes: Horse care, grooming, riding and an end of the week horse show! We have added a second riding arena to double the horseback fun! More horses + more riding space + more time on the horses equals more fun! Milk goats, gather eggs, pet pigs and bunnies, feed the ducks and tortoise, and take the mini mule for a walk! Gather some fresh vegetables and fruits from the garden and prepare a farm fresh snack. Watch eggs hatch and learn to care for chicks! Make goats milk ice cream. Country Arts & Crafts galore! Soap and candle making, leather working, rag doll making, and wood working. Water play-squirt gun obstacle course, mud run and more!
Spring field trips are in full swing and we are currently booking field trips for the Harvest Festival in October. Bring your group for an experience they won’t soon forget! Birthday parties are funner on the farm! Celebrate your special day with us. We also offer horseback riding lessons year around for beginners to advanced students. We have a special pony program for children two to six years and a show team for more advanced riders looking to expand their horseback experience. Book a lesson today!
