Business and Back to School
As the summer winds down and kids head back to school, travelers will find Oxnard a perfect place to visit with less crowds, fall special events and a myriad of attractions to enjoy. In the fall, Oxnard experiences an ‘Indian Summer’ as warm days continue through the season providing opportunities to enjoy all that Oxnard has to offer. Visitors can go on a wine tasting adventure at four distinctive wineries and tasting rooms. These include Herzog Wine Cellars, the nation’s largest producer of kosher wines in addition to Magnavino Cellars, Strey Cellars and Rancho Ventavo Cellars. For those who prefer craft beers, Oxnard has two breweries – Red Tandem Brewery, a microbrewery and Casa Agria, a boutique-based brewery. The fall is also a great time to get outdoors. Island Packers, Ventura County’s official concessionaire to the Channel Islands National Park offers excursions to see the Blue Whales through September. Outdoor enthusiasts can also opt to take a bike ride along the scenic coastline of Oxnard and enjoy its clean, uncrowded beaches. Colorful and vivid sunsets can be found at the beach adding to the experience of this seaside destination. Car buffs can make a weekend of it by visiting the Murphy Auto Museum which contains 90 vintage automobiles or the Mullin Automotive Museum (open on scheduled Saturdays) featuring historic French automobiles from Bugatti to Voisin. When it’s time to do some shopping and grab a bite to eat, plenty of opportunities can be found at the Collection at RiverPark containing an eclectic mix of shops and eateries. The Annex, a public market located there, is a fun place to sample various types of cuisine in an inviting atmosphere. When the sun sets, catch a comedy act at Levity Live featuring top comedians throughout the country. Visitors can also plan their weekend getaway around a special event. The cool sounds of jazz and blues fill Oxnard Beach Park during the third annual Oxnard Jazz Festival on September 8 providing a relaxing day and evening while taking in the talents of well-known artists. Celebrating Oxnard’s diversity, the Multicultural Festival takes place on October 6 in Downtown Oxnard featuring performers, exhibitors and tasty food. For those travelling on business, Oxnard offers a multitude of hotels with ample meeting space and business amenities.
