Botox® Cosmetic injections are the most popular cosmetic procedures in America today. They are both effective and safe. Last year, Dr. Ingber personally injected over 20,000 units of Botox® Cosmetic.
Botox® Cosmetic works by blocking the muscles that cause our skin to wrinkle. The effect usually takes place in four to seven days and lasts up to four months, although many people report five to six-month successes.
Most people can rid themselves of static wrinkles (wrinkles that are present without expression). Most lines of expression in the forehead, between the eyes (frown lines), and wrinkles on the outside of the eyes (crows’ feet) can be blocked, and with an experienced injector, patients can still show expression.
Side effects are rare and include tiny bruises at the injection site and a temporary headache. There is virtually no pain during Botox® injections if done properly. Patients can return to work within 15 minutes with no sign of having had injections.
