Veronica Swift, Chinese Warriors of Peking and More Coming to the PAC

by | Aug 29, 2018 | Community

Following an incredible opening line-up of performances, the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center’s 2018-19 season will continue with jazz vocalist Veronica Swift and the Chinese Warriors of Peking.
Jazz fans are invited to experience an evening with rising star Veronica Swift at 8 p.m. Saturday, September 22.
Swift, 24, has already claimed many musical accomplishments. By the age of nine, she had recorded a CD with saxophonist Richie Cole, and by age 13, she had recorded a second with saxophonist Harry Allen.
She attributes her bebop skills and passion to both of her parents, but especially her father, who was a remnant of the bebop era and the byproduct of great jazz performers like Bud Powell and Red Garland.
At 4 p.m. Saturday, October 6, Santa Clarita will have the opportunity to experience a spectacular acrobatic performance. Since 1958, the company Chinese Warriors of Peking has been astounding audiences with their martial arts and acrobatics.
The show’s plot draws on a royal martial arts tournament that was annually held from 1368 to 1644 in Peking, the capital of the Ming Dynasty. The curtain is pulled back on this ancient tradition, giving viewers a glimpse of the rich culture and customs of the time.
With routines in juggling, acrobatics, weapon-handling and live stage combat, their strength, precision and skill baffles audiences again and again. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience the Chinese Warriors of Peking’s dazzling performance.
Other acts and artists visiting the PAC this season include: Villalobos Brothers & Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles; Peter Gros, Wildlife Expert from the original Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom; Catapult; and Ann Hampton Callaway & Liz Callaway in “Sibling Revelry.”
The PAC will also host a number of College of the Canyons theatre, music and dance department productions, as well as other community group performances.
