Christy Smith Fighting for all California women and families
I’m often asked on the campaign trail what issues are most important to me. My answer is simple – they all are!
In California, there’s no shortage of challenges we’ve yet to completely tackle. Every issue that impacts us and our community is an issue for women and families.
Affordable healthcare access when we become ill, public safety resources to keep our neighborhoods safe, clean air for our children to breathe, quality education to prepare them for a rewarding future, equal pay and opportunities for woman, and a thriving economy to support all families – these are essential to the success of women and our families. That’s why I firmly believe that no public policy discussion should occur without women at the table.
Now more than ever, women are the backbone of our families – caregivers to our children and our parents, family budget managers, troop leaders, classroom moms – often while juggling paid jobs. We bring important perspective of the day-to-day challenges facing families, small businesses, our communities. Yet today, our state’s legislature is made up of just 21 percent women.
I’m running for State Assembly, as a mother, school board member, and policy expert, to bring the voice of women and families to Sacramento where I’ll prioritize families over party politics to bring real progress to our community.
In Sacramento I’ll prioritize prenatal health, affordable healthcare, universal preschool, safe and affordable childcare, and paid family leave. I’ll fight to restore California’s world class education system by working to achieve nationally competitive K-12 per pupil funding, expand access to higher education and job training so all our young people can develop a thriving middle-class career.
It will be an honor to serve you in the California State Assembly. Please vote for me, Christy Smith, on November 6.
