Youth Spotlight: Allison Jacobs
The recipe for success is a dash of strength, two tablespoons of determination, and a couple of cups of will and perseverance. West Ranch High School’s Allison Jacobs has followed this recipe from an early age; making her a force as an outside hitter on and off the Volleyball Court.
Recently, Allison was the Captain of the USA Team at the Norceca Games held in Honduras. She was hand selected after besting girls from around the country to make it in one of the 12 slots for team USA. Because of their amazing efforts and abilities, the team took home the gold and Allison was voted as the “Best Attacker” from the All-Tournament Selection Committee. “Winning the Gold medal in a completely foreign country was by far the best day of my life. And even more so, doing it with my amazing team and best friends made it unforgettable. In the beginning of the tournament the Dominican Republic did their best to put us in the worst situation… however, we defied the odds which made it even more amazing; eventually beating them in the semi-finals and then Canada in the finals… Being captain of this team made it even more special because before and after every game I got to sign the score sheets and get interviewed on behalf of the team which was a huge honor.”
It is no mystery where Allison gets her sportsmen drive from, she comes from a very athletic family. Her dad played Football for UCLA and mom played: basketball, volley ball and softball during high school and her older sister played volleyball for UCLA as well. Allison will also follow the family tradition and has committed to UCLA after receiving a full ride scholarship to the family’s alma mater for her skills on the volley ball court. “Her mom and I are very proud of her work habits and efforts. She does a lot of her own training and work far beyond normal practices because she wants to be great, “says her father Brian Jacobs, 25-year veteran Wealth Manager at Morgan Stanley.
