Congratulations Jesse Vera of College of the Canyons
College of the Canyons is proud to recognize 40 Under Forty honoree, Jesse Vera. During his six years of service in the U.S. Navy, Versa served as a nuclear machinist mate 2nd class and a Chief Reactor Watch. Soon after his honorable discharge, he began his career at College of the Canyons, working as a part-time employee in the Admissions and Records office at the Canyon Country campus and then as program advisor in the Counseling office.
He currently works in the Veteran’s Resource Center as a counselor, providing information, guidance and resources to his fellow veterans. His previous experience in the Navy, as well as his experience as a student at College of the Canyons, makes him the perfect contact for our incoming veterans. He knows how challenging it can be to transition to civilian life while navigating the college system after serving in the military. His first-hand experience as a veteran provides a bridge of understanding for veteran students at College of the Canyons.
Vera holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Science and Technology from Thomas Edison State College in New Jersey. He earned an associate’s degree in biological & physical sciences from College of the Canyons and a general science associate’s degree from Santa Monica College.
