Faith
The Christian Church calendar begins with the Advent. The word, “advent” is derived from the Latin adventus, which means “coming” or “arrival.” The Advent season consists of four Sundays starting on the forth Sunday before Christmas Day. This year, the Advent begins on December 2 and ends on Christmas Eve.
The focus of the church during the Advent season is Christ’s threefold coming-past, present, and future. First, we remember the Lord’s humble coming in a manger in Bethlehem two thousand years ago. This is what we celebrate on Christmas. Second, we give thanks for His present and continual coming to us through the Word and Sacraments. Finally, we look forward to the future with hope and patience to His victorious second coming as the King in the End-Time.
Jesus Christ is God’s greatest gift for us, through him we are reconciled to God and received forgiveness, eternal life and privilege to become God’s children. We find our purpose on earth through Jesus Christ who gives strength and empowers us by the presence of the Holy Spirit.
Though we are easily caught up in the frantic rush of shopping, decorations, parties, and other distractions, let us pause for a moment each day and catch His peace by contemplating the wonder of God’s mercy and love through Jesus Christ His one and only begotten Son.
As a way for the preparation and sharing of our faith in Christ, Santa Clarita United Methodist Church family looks forward to many events that would speak to your hearts and life.
Come Join Us for the celebration of the real joy, hope and peace. We will be looking at the Christmas through the lens of a man named Joseph who took on the role of earthly father for Jesus.
Our Worship services are at 9 a.m. (traditional service) and 11 a.m. (contemporary music service).
