Weste Honored, McLean Sworn in, Boydston Named New Councilman

A bustling of excitement filled the air of City Hall on December 11 as TimBen Boydston was appointed Santa Clarita’s new City councilman, filling the seat vacated by Assemblyman-elect Cameron Smyth. Boydston was elected in a 3-1 vote, with Councilwoman Laurene Weste casting the dissenting vote.

 

“I am honored and I look forward to serving,” said Boydston who serves as the executive director of the Canyon Theatre Guild and has been a resident of Santa Clarita for more than 30 years.

 
The evening also marked the changing of the guard when councilmember Marsha McLean was sworn in as mayor.  Outgoing Mayor Laurene Weste was honored by dignitaries and community members for her work on behalf of the community. Family and Friends of Weste and McLean came out to show their support.
