Product Style

With so many hair products to choose from, do you know how each one works on your hair?  There are mousses, gels, pomades, pastes, serums, balms, creams and sprays—each creating a different style.
Mousse gives your hair bounce and volume.  A dollop of mousse can add spring to curls and softness to any hair type.  It’s good for hair that needs lift and hold.  Mousse should be scrunched throughout damp hair and used sparingly.  Too much creates stiff, brittle hair that flakes.

Gel is useful for sculpting and giving a harder-edged look.  A bit of gel can turn hair into a spike or create a wave.  Use gel as a setting product in pin curls or rollers to make the hold last longer.  Good for defining ends, contouring your hair shape, and taming flyaway’s.  Gel is better for thick hair, as thin hair can be weighed down.

Elastic defining pomades can be used on short, medium or even long hair and may be used in sections to create hold.  It can be used on wet or dry hair, and contains oils, which leaves hair glossy.

Styling paste creates weightless long lasting hold, maintaining versatility and shine.  Create wild styles without feeling like you have gel in your hair.

Serums are for creating shine, conditioning and the first line of defense against dry, wavy or frizzy hair.  Most serums help protect hair from damage by lightly coating the outer cuticle.

Straightening balms are designed specifically to condition and provide temporary straightening for parched, naturally wavy and curly tresses.  Balms offer extra holding power, which is important for creating those stick straight styles.

Hair creams, such as DeFrisant, are fast drying creams that calm unruly hair with soft and pliable results.  Other creams, such as Diva Brulee, increase curl and wave definition, with soft holding power.

Finally, sprays—besides basic hairsprays, also try sprays with infused ingredients, like salt for texture; heat activated thermal styling sprays protect against the damages of heat styling; finishing sprays, which are light and soft; and spray laminates to add shine.
Your hairdresser can suggest which products work best for your hair type, texture and current hairstyle goals.  Experiment with hair products to create many different styles, perfect for upcoming holiday festivities!
