Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Newhall was filled with more than the usual amount of white lace and satin recently when a group wedding was held on a Saturday afternoon. The following were joined in holy matrimony, true to the traditional form of their faith:
Francisco Javier and Luz Elena Beltran
Ramiro and Carolina Cabrera
Luis Alberto and Gloria Marina Garcia
Ernesto and Matilde Garnica
José Santos and Rafaela Gomez
Martin and Elizabeth Gomez
Alberto and Verónica Martinez
Miguel Franciso and Adriana Ramirez
Armando and Micaela Salas
Eleazar and Maria del Rosario Salazar
Roberto and Judith Solano
Felix and Maria Eugenia Sosa
Juan and Verónica Sosa
Sotero and Sinforina Vergara
Sipriano and Maria Belen Vigil
Luis Miguel and Maria de los Ángeles Yepez
The Wedding organizer, Sister Gabriela Ramirez, was on hand as the couples said their holy vows inside the church. All of them had been married in civil ceremonies for between five and 41 years and wanted to make their committment official in the eyes of the church. With the popularity of the June mass wedding, Ramirez is certain they will offer the same type of group ceremony in 2008. It seems like weddings never really do go out of style.
