A Note from The Publishers - Nov 2011

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend’s granddaughter, Eisley Mae Winter.  Eisley Mae was a vibrant little 3-year-old girl who suddenly passed away in her sleep.  She was the light of her family’s life and loved by all who were lucky to know her.  Little Eisley Mae’s smile will be forever missed.  Our thoughts and prayers are with grandparents Randal and Gail and her parents Scott and Stephanie during this difficult time, and we dedicate this issue to Eisley Mae.  A memorial fund has been established to help with financial burdens caused by this tragic loss.  See how you can help by visiting www.wepay.com/donate/77060
November proves to be yet another busy month as it is filled with many fun events in our Valley.  We are pleased to feature three non-profit organizations on the cover of this issue of The Magazine of Santa Clarita.  Join the Assistance League as they host Sunset in the Vineyard to support Operation School Bell on Sunday, November 6.  Enjoy an afternoon of fine wines, great food and more.
Our second cover story features the Boys & Girls Club of SCV as they bring the Festival of Trees to Westfield Valencia Town Center.  Peruse through the decorative holiday trees and get in the holiday spirit.  The Festival of Trees will take place November 12 through November 23.
We are also pleased to feature the Santa Clarita Master Chorale, our third cover story.  Enjoy an evening of Cabaret & Cabernet “A Blast from the Past-Celebrating the Music of the 1950’s and 1960’s” on Sunday, November 13 to benefit the Santa Clarita Master Chorale.
For more details on all our cover story events, see opposite page.
Get ready for some action packed fun as the American Heart Association presents HeartChase.  A new event to our Valley, this community wide competition will be an all out race to the finish line, to benefit the American Heart Association.  The event will take place on Sunday, November 20.  Turn to page 12 for more details.
Tis’ the season to give.  Get a jump start with your holiday shopping and see our Holiday Gift Guide, beginning on page 40, to help you choose the right gift for that special someone.  There’s no better time than now to support your local charities.  Turn to page 14 for our Holiday Boutique listing, and see how you can shop for the holidays while giving back to our community.
As we prepare to feast with friends and family this Thanksgiving holiday, we recognize this is not just a time for a delicious turkey dinner, but also a time to give thanks for all the blessings we have in our lives.  This holiday, take some time to help those less fortunate.  Be a part of the giving season with the Hartman House, as they package dinners for many families in need.  See page 7 on how you can help.  Also join the Help the Children as they will be hosting a banquet on November 19 to their foundation and their fight to help feed those in need.  See page 6 for more information.
We cannot forget to thank the soldiers who are serving our country abroad. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who will be spending their holiday season apart from their friends and family.  To those who have served and are serving, now, thank you for all the sacrifices you have made so that we may enjoy the many freedoms we have today. Don’t forget honor our veterans on 11/11/11 as we pay tribute to those who have served our country.  See page 22 for a special Veteran’s Day celebration.
Our warmest wishes this Thanksgiving,
Linda, Moe and Alex
