A Note from The Publishers - January 2012

The New Year is a perfect time to reflect… to look back at the past, look forward to the coming year, and to reflect on what is truly important in our lives.  It’s a time for new beginnings, a time when we make commitments and personal goals for the New Year.  At this time, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of Jeri Bronstrup, owner of Way Station Coffee Shop.  Jeri passed away last month due to heart complications at the age of 73.  Way Station Coffee Shop has been a landmark of Old Town Newhall since 1971, and was recognized by élite Magazine and the community as the Ultimate in Comfort Food.  Jeri was loved by many and missed by all.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.
We would like to wish you a joyful and prosperous New Year to you and your loved ones.  Our wish is to continue to share in the many blessings we have enjoyed throughout this past year, and also form new relationships that will strengthen our community.  Thank you for your continuing support, as it means so much to us.
As the years pass, we are always so amazed at how time has flown by so quickly. The City of Santa Clarita, who celebrates its 25th year, has grown and changed tremendously.  Our city council has served us well, helping make our community one of the most desirable places to live and raise a family.
We are excited to feature the city council members on our cover of this issue.  Take a look back at the last 25 years with them, at our City’s biggest accomplishments and what our hopes are for the upcoming year in our cover story on facing page.
We are so pleased to support the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Foundation and their “Be Our Star” program. Santa Clarita is one of the safest communities in California, and we have our local law enforcement to thank for that.  Our hope for the New Year is that you will continue to show your support for the Foundation, as their efforts to raise money benefit our local sheriff department.  The Foundation, a non-profit organization, supports our sheriff deputies and has already done so much for the department.  Please help their mission and keep our Valley safe by providing much needed equipment and crime prevention materials.  See story on page 6.
The New Year is here, and with that comes resolutions that usually affect our health and well-being.  Devote some time to yourself this year to look great and get in shape, and check out our Physical Fitness Guide, beginning on page 110 to help you get started.
You want your wedding day to be flawless. Let our Bridal Guide, on page 95 help you find the services you need to help make your day just as perfect as it should be.
We want to wish you and your family a year of good health and happiness.  May you find joy in each and every day.  We look forward to many more years of growing with our community, continuing to support our local business community and non-profit organizations this coming year.
Have a wonderful and prosperous New Year.
Linda, Moe and Alex
