In honor of Lauren, the Saugus Softball Program has maintained a scholarship fund in her name. Each year, senior softball players are invited to submit an essay concerning the ongoing problem of drinking and driving and the consequences. The Blaire family and Saugus Softball will sponsor the $1,000 scholarship. A committee, headed by the Blaire Family, will select the outstanding entry and the scholarship will be awarded and presented at the Saugus High CAPR Awards Ceremony. On Tuesday, April 10, the Saugus Varsity Softball Team will play a league game against Hart High School at the Hart ASA Softball Complex at 7 p.m. The Saugus team will play in memory of Lauren Blaire. There will be a 50/50 raffle to help maintain the scholarship fund. Thanks to our parents, players (past and present), coaches, and the Blaire family and friends we are able award this scholarship each year. If you or your business would like to make a donation please send it to The Lauren Blaire Scholarship Fund c/o Saugus Softball Booster Club at 21900 W. Centurion Way, Saugus, CA 91350.
Even amidst a tragedy, we hope that those who are in attendance realize the positive impact it provides, reenforce the importance of not drinking and driving, and that Lauren’s spirit is alive on the Saugus softball fields.
