The Canyon Theatre Guild is bringing in the spring with the high-spirited romp, Thoroughly Modern Millie, which had all of New York dancing the Charleston.  Winner of six Tony Awards, Millie is the zany new 1920’s musical that took Broadway by storm when it opened in 2002. Now, for the first time in Santa Clarita, you can be transported to the roaring twenties when bobbing your hair and rolling your stockings was considered daring.
Taking place in New York City in 1922, Thoroughly Modern Millie, which is based on the hit movie, tells the story of young Millie Dillmount, who has just moved to the big city in search of a new life for herself.  It’s a New York full of intrigue and jazz - a time when women were entering the workforce and the rules of love and social behavior were changing forever.  Based on the popular movie, this stage version of Thoroughly Modern Millie is filled with frisky flappers, dashing leading men and a dragon-lady of a villainess audiences will love to hate, Thoroughly Modern Millie is a perfect evening of madcap merriment.  With the role of Millie Dillmount, musical theatre has found a new heroine for the ages in Thoroughly Modern Millie!
Make your reservations now so you won’t miss this fun-filled Broadway musical.  Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. on May 26, June 2, 9, 15, 16, 22, and 23, and Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. on May 27, June 3, 10, 16, 17, 23, and 24.  Some material may not be suitable for young children.  Tickets are $15 for Juniors and Seniors, $17 for Adults.  The Canyon Theatre Guild is still offering free tickets to the unemployed and their family, with proof of unemployment.
