Not Just Another Beauty Pageant!

As the Miss Santa Clarita Valley Scholarship Program prepares for the 33rd annual Scholarship Pageant on Saturday, June 16 at the PAC at COC, people are talking about this fabulous program for girls and young women.  The Miss SCV Scholarship Program is home grown and represents young women right here in the Santa Clarita Valley.  Titleholders participate in over 50 SCV events each year and often totaling over 300 hours of volunteer service.  Miss SCV Scholarship Program gives right back to the Santa Clarita Valley.  Miss Santa Clarita Valley is our community representative and Queen since 1980.  Special thanks to the SCV Parade Committee who allow these fine young women to be celebrated for their efforts at the 4th of July SCV Parade.  There has been over 1,500 women come through the Miss SCV Program who are now assets to our community.
Comments from community leaders:
“On behalf of The City of Santa Clarita, I would like to congratulate the Miss SCV Scholarship Program.  Ladies like you emphasize that volunteerism and community service are important to the Santa Clarita Community.  Thank you for being positive role models that proudly represent our city and citizens of the Santa Clarita Valley.  As a team, or individually, you represent the beauty of our city. You are citizens who strive to make life better through positive and active community involvement.”  – Bob Kellar, Councilman
“Through community volunteerism the Miss Santa Clarita Scholarship Program is helping Santa Clarita Valley be an even better place to live and work.  I am always encouraged and delighted to see young people who are such positive role models.  Everyone, of all ages, can learn to be better neighbors through the sincere desire to help others. Continued good service to your community.” – Steve Cooley, District Attorney
“This letter is to let you know how pleased we were to have the help of the Miss SCV Ladies at the Casino Night that was held on April 21st at the SCV Sports Center.  They were all so helpful and pleasant and added so much to the evening.  I heard many comments from the guests how wonderful they were.  The Casino Night was the first event of its type.  They raised over $7,000 to benefit Emergency and Trauma Services for Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.  It is because of friends like the SCV Girls, our events are so successful.” – Terrie Cipriano, HMNMH Foundation Secretary
