Summertime in the Santa Clarita just doesn’t get any better.  Warm days end with cool summer nights, making it the perfect time for backyard barbeques, poolside fun, taking an evening stroll or enjoying one of the many activities going on in our valley this month.  
One of these exciting events that will take place in June is the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley’s Benefit Auction, our cover story this month.  This year’s
Theme, “Heroes Among Us” will take place on Saturday, June 2, at the Gateway Promenade Shopping Center in Valencia.  Proceeds from the Auction will help supply funds needed for the after school and summer programs at the Boys & Girls Club of SCV.  The Magazine of Santa Clarita is pleased to sponsor this event.  See opposite page for more details.
Also on June 2 is the 5th Annual SCV Blues Festival & BBQ in the Park.  The free event will be hosted at Mountain View Park in Santa Clarita and will feature a car show, kid’s zone, vendors, raffles, silent auctions and more.  Proceeds of the event will go to The Valley Sports Foundation and the Tom Bolewski Special Needs Trust.  For more information, turn to page 21.
For some family fun, get ready for the Third Annual Outdoor Family Movie Night at Heritage Park.  Join the Foundation for Children’s Dental Health on Saturday, June 16 from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. as they will be featuring a free showing of Despicable Me.  See page 17 for details.  
It’s time to tee off at the 4th Annual Summer Showdown on Monday, June 18 at the beautiful Tournament Players Club in Valencia.  Enjoy a day of golf while supporting the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center.  For more information about the event, see their editorial on page 8.  
School is out, so let the fun begin!  Whether your son or daughter wants to create arts and crafts, take music lessons, ride horses, get fit or continue their religious or academic studies, our full-color Summer Activities Directory, starting on page 70, will point the way to an unforgettable summer. Keep the kids busy with all that our valley has to offer.
