Senior Center Foundation's Summer Golf Showdown Set

Fourth Annual Fundraiser at TPC Valencia Offers Prizes, Unique Auction Items. The Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center Foundation is calling all golfers to the Fourth Annual Summer Showdown at the Tournament Players Club, Valencia, on Monday, June 18, offering a fun day on a beautiful course and chances to win unique prizes and auction items.
The Showdown, presented by Lockheed Federal Credit Union, is open to golfers of all ability levels, so long as they are willing to have a good time.
Senior Center Foundation 1“The Showdown just keeps getting better and better,” said Myles McNamara, President of the Foundation, which raises funds to support the SCV Senior Center’s programs and services. “Every year, there are new wrinkles and more unique prizes and auction items. Everyone always has a great time and it’s an important fundraiser for the Foundation in its efforts to help our local seniors.”
Foursomes cost just $800 and individual players can sign up for $250. Green fees include carts, practice balls, breakfast courtesy of the Egg Plantation, a delicious buffet lunch, awards, prizes and trophies. Plus, each golfer will receive a $50 certificate to use in the Titleist vendor shop on tournament day. A variety of sponsorship packages offer businesses great opportunities to support the Senior Center, and sponsorship details are available on the Foundation’s website, www.scvseniorfoundation.org.
“This tournament gives golfers a great chance to play a beatiful course and support an excellent cause,” said event Chairman John Lutz, Public Information Officer for the California Highway Patrol’s Newhall Area.
Lutz added golfers will have a chance to win a new Toyota or Chevrolet with a hole in one, and one lucky golfer will get a chance to win $10,000 on a single putt. The post-tournament banquet will include unique auction and raffle prizes, such as a chance to spend a day with the sheriff’s arson explosives team and to visit the show “NCIS” as it is being filmed. Other auction items include magnums of the highly sought after Sea Smoke wine and a relaxing golf getaway and the picturesque Inn at Morro Bay.
Golfer check-in and the putting contest will be held before the 9 a.m. shotgun start.
“The Summer Showdown always sells out, so golfers should book their foursomes as soon as possible,” said Kathy Crone, Executive Director of the Foundation. “Ask anyone who’s played in the Showdown before and they’ll tell you: You don’t want to miss this one!”
All proceeds from the tournament will benefit the SCV Senior Center’s programs and services for local seniors in need.
