It’s the Roaring 20’s at the Canyon Theatre Guild and bands were getting jazzier, cars were getting snazzier and women were bobbing their hair and entering the work place. Millie Dilmount (Justine Celeste Meza) arrives in New York in search of a new life for herself, which includes marrying her boss – whoever he might be. The rules of love and social behavior were in the process of changing forever, and Millie is a part of that change. She meets brash young Jimmy Smith (Tom Lund) who captures her heart but flits from job to job without a care about financial security. Millie’s boss, Trevor Graydon (Kelly Roberts) is the man of Millie’s dreams until he falls for Millie’s best friend, Miss Dorothy (Stephanie Klimek). Throw in a comic villain, Mrs. Meers (Heidi Appe), a failed actress who now, disguised as a kindly Asian woman, runs a hotel for young single women, and you have the recipe for comedy. Mrs. Meers’ side business is not so benign, however. She kidnaps those young women who are orphans and sells them into slavery in China. However, good triumphs over evil and love conquers all, especially with the help of some delightful songs, energetic dancing, and show-stopping numbers.
The cast includes Marcus Langston and Monica Ubungen as Ching Ho and Bun Foo, Aubree Garman as Miss Flannery, and Sarah Lang as Muzzy Van Hosmire. Also in the cast are Patrick Mannion, Joe Aboulafia, Sierra Clarke, Katy Fortman, Natalie Fortman, Andrea Judd, Kaitlyn Reuben, Everett Lewis, Gregory Rosenberg, Stephen Tako, and Sofia Correa who understudies Millie.
