The City of Santa Clarita, in partnership with Noah’s Wish, is seeking local volunteers to provide lifesaving services for animals during crises situations.  Representatives from Noah’s Wish, a not-for-profit animal welfare organization, will be hosting a free animal emergency response training for interested volunteers at the Santa Clarita Activities Center from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 14.
“Over half of Santa Clarita’s entire population owns at least one household pet.  As part of the City’s Community Emergency Response Training program, residents will have the unique opportunity to form a local volunteer group for providing emergency care and shelter for our pets during crises situations,” commented Mayor Frank Ferry.
Participants will learn how to care for household pets including, dogs, cats, birds, hamsters, and other small animals.  Training will also focus on building emergency pet shelter sites for displaced animals.
Participants will be part of Noah’s Wish nationwide network of well-trained and highly skilled volunteers, who could potentially serve alongside the Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control Department as an emergency response team in regional disasters.
