Arts and Events Coordinator, David Knutson, started in theater, but was offered an opportunity to work as a lighting technician for the Concerts in the Park series, free summer concerts run by the City of Santa Clarita Arts and Events office. Dave enjoyed it so much that he continued to help as a part time employee for the Arts and Events Department.  “I eventually worked into a full time position and became more involved in events and public art,” states Dave.
Dave is no stranger to Santa Clarita.  In fact, he has lived in the Santa Clarita Valley all his life.  “I went to Peachland Elementary, to Placerita Jr. High, to Hart High on to the College of the Canyons. Santa Clarita is such a great place to live and work.  The people are friendly and fun and there is always an adventure around the corner.”

Dave is also a set and lighting designer for various theater companies.  Outside of the office, Dave enjoys snowboarding, camping, riding dirt bikes and playing soccer.  “I also enjoy cooking!” states Dave. 

Currently, Dave is in charge of permits and on-site set up for the Amgen Tour of California.  “I also work with other staff, coordinating logistics of the course and the start line”, states Dave. Santa Clarita will return as a host city for the Amgen Tour of California for the third year.  The Santa Clarita to Pasadena Stage Seven part of the tour will be an exciting event for the City. “I am looking forward to seeing Lance Armstrong take off from the start line,” states Dave, “there is this build of excitement that is around the pack as they get ready to take off.”

Director of Security of Professional Security Consultants for the Westfield Valencia Town Center, Julie Covino stated ,“ I have worked with many event planners as well as logistics from the film industry in my line of work (security) and Dave has always excelled in professionalism and ease of execution.  He is the best at what he does!”
