Picture Perfect at 'N Style Salon

My January makeover submissions featured a fun and delightful entry from a lovely woman by the name of Mia Zumsteg.  As I received the entries, though Mia was not the first entry submitted I kept gravitating back to her email.  Unfortunately she was not the winner of the January makeover, but when it came time for February submissions, I was so pleased that Mia was the first one to submit!  I was so happy she sent another entry in and when I saw the note and photo attached I knew it was meant to be.  Mia wrote: “I’m gonna keep on trying!  I am seriously in need of a makeover.  My New Year resolution consists of losing weight and getting healthier, so I would love a new cut to inspire me.  I have had my hair long and boring for most of my life.  I’m not happy with my looks, and it has impacted my relationship with my husband.  I need a fresh new pulled-together look - something that makes me hold up my head with pride!  I’m am in the new mommy rut (beautiful twin two and a half year old year girls) with frumpy baggy clothes and hair up in a ponytail or bun.”
After reading what she wrote and cracking up from her hilarious photo entry I had to give her a call.  We confirmed times and spoke about what she was open to, which was everything, and said goodbye.
I met Mia on a cool Tuesday morning at ‘N Style Salon located at 26111 Bouquet Canyon Road, Suite A3 behind IHOP.  A quaint look out front opens up to a beautifully pristine salon and Amanda Ryan already had Mia in the chair.  Angela Carpenter had already done her color consultation and Amanda was getting to know Mia a little better.  It is always important in a consultation to let your stylist know your routine.  How much time you spend and would like to spend on your hair, if you have children or if you wear glasses or contacts.  So many details can effect a stylist decision for a cut and or color it’s always important to share your daily routine.
Angela and Amanda were in for a treat with Mia’s makeover.  Mia’s exact words were “I’m open to anything.”  Now, any good stylist knows with creative freedom comes restraint when someone’s hair is involved.  I am a perfect example of that.  I have been asking for an A-line bob for two years from my stylist, who also happens to be my little sister.  And for two years she has refused to do it.  Want to know why?  Because she knows me.  She knows that it will not work with my curly hair because I do not have the patience to blow it out every day.  I would end up putting it up in a bun or ponytail.  Knowing Mia was in the best hands in SCV I left the ladies to their day of beauty and waited patiently for the phone call to return.
Just a few short hours later I got my call.  They were just finishing up her makeup with Janelle Lewis and ready for me.  I rushed back over for the big surprised and just about jumped out of my socks when I saw Mia.
Everything about her new look complimented her.  The cut framed her face so beautifully and the color accentuated her skin tone as well as those fabulous eyes of hers.  Her makeup was dramatic with out heaviness and it brought out all of Mia’s best features.  All and all it was another excellent makeover by the team of talented women at ‘N Style Salon.  I have had the pleasure of working with these ladies before and was not surprised by the talent and caring put into making Mia feel great for 2010!
