What is the Roadtrip Nation Experience?Partnered with the College of the Canyons, the Roadtrip Nation Experience is an innovative educational program allowing students to use tools to explore career opportunities through an interactive curriculum. It is a curriculum developed to help students identify their unique interests, make connections in their own communities, break out of their comfort zones, develop 21st century skill sets and connect their education with all the possibilities of their future. Roadtrip Nation Experience gives students real world skills, helping guide them to their individual hopes and dreams. Lesson titles include “Don’t Fall Asleep at the Wheel,” “Get out and Explore,” and “Work Versus Your Life Work.”
The Roadtrip Nation Experience allows students to explore different passions in their lives. By going through different parts of the curriculum, they will gain skills necessary to get out “on the road” and interview with community leaders with interests similar to their own.
Bowman High School, a California Model Continuation school, is the first continuation school in the state chosen to pilot the Roadtrip Nation Experience. “Other schools have some classes that are participating,” states Lori Wilson, counselor at Bowman High School, “however we wanted all of our students to be part of this experience, something that has never been done. We want our students to focus on the future and keep them in school.”
RoadtripNation.org is a non-profit organization seeking to empower students with themes of Roadtrip Nation the series and inspire them to define their own road in life. Visit www.roadtripnation.com for more information.
