On the cover of the Magazine is the photo of Nathan Crookston, a cancer survivor and participant in the Santa Clarita Valley’s Relay For Life and Luminaria ceremony.

If you spot glimmers of light while passing by Santa Clarita’s Central Park the first week-end in June, know that those lights carry a rather special significance. 

It helped such notables as Denzel Washington, Mark Wahlberg, Jennifer Lopez and Michael Jordan who were members elsewhere, but more importantly, it’s helped millions of children and currently serves 3500 local kids at three area clubhouses.  The organization referred to here is the Boys & Girls Club.

It’s lemonade stand and ice cream truck weather and we always love this time of year.  It signals the start of this hot, but dry weather where evenings are a glorious time for a walk or just sitting on the patio and counting stars.  The real star of this month’s Magazine of Santa Clarita is on the cover.  Nathan Crookston, a cancer survivor himself, who will be joining hundreds of people who will be participating in the Santa Clarita Valley American Cancer Societ

With longer days and warmer weather, we are reminded that summer is right around the corner.  Most kids are already looking forward to homework-free days, lazing around the poolside and hanging out with friends.  Most parents are wondering how they are going to keep their kids busy and dreading the first “I’m bored” complaint.
